I'm assuming what you really mean is "Do film critics know how to review movies?"
The answer is yes, of course they can. The reason why so many reviews are rather harsh is because the critic has much more experience with movies than the average viewer. It's their job to watch most of the movies that come out, so when they see a movie that doesn't live up to their standards that they come to expect from a good movie, they give the movie a bad score.
The reason why most of the movies you listed made so much money is because they drew from the quality of their predecessors. For instance, Star Wars Episode I and II made so much money because the original trilogy from twenty years before was so successful. Same with the Rocky movies, Rambo III, Godzilla, and Charlie's Angels and Transformers. Twilight was already popular among the tween community, and Batman was a popular comic book hero before they made a movie out of it.
Unfortunately, because most don't listen to the reviews, or don't even read them in the first place, people spend their money on bad movies, and then their perception of a "good movie" is altered because they don't watch enough truly good movies. That's just my opinion, though.Do film critics know how the review movies?
Film critics come out be to very opinionated. I believe they are unaware of what they are viewing more half the time. They are not informing the public on what is good to watch. They are TELLING you what to THEY want you to watch. I think Ebert and Roper need a new career.Do film critics know how the review movies?
