Seniors, did any of you happen to see the Judge Judy episode today?

I'm assuming the same episode aired in all parts of the country, as the game shows seem to do. The plaintiff and the defendant worked in the same dentist's office. Some naughty pictures were posted on the internet of the plaintiff and she claimed the defendant posted them there. The defendant was counter suing because she said the plaintiff assaulted her. Judy Judy obviously believed the plaintiff's story, that the defendant had posted the pictures, but dismissed the lawsuit because she also believed the plaintiff had, indeed, assaulted the defendant. Then, just when you thought it was all over, Judge Judy returned to the stand, asked the defendant if she had filed a lawsuit against the dentist, got a "yes", then reversed herself and awarded the plaintiff the full amount of the lawsuit. Does anybody know why she did that? I've never seen her change her mind before.Seniors, did any of you happen to see the Judge Judy episode today?
I think it was probably for the defendant breaching the contract the two agreed to prior to entering arbitration. I'm not sure about this, but I think that by continuing to use the legal system to resolve a problem that should have been done so in the arbitration, she broke contract which awarded to the plaintiff who did not breach. That might account for her "sudden change of mind". It's possible the case really was dismissed, but the award came from contract breach.

These "cases" are not actually litigation. Judge Judy is not acting in the capacity of judge, but arbiter, which is why she is allowed to be verbally abrasive without being dressed down. I think it's very important for people who watch this to be aware that this isn't how a trial goes, and arbiters aren't strictly held to how the law actually reads in their decisions. Not to say it's not entertaining or that there isn't some valid legal precedents for many of Judge Judy's decisions, but it's not how actual court rooms and judges' operate.
Your question is interesting but I don't watch Judge Judy because she comes across to me as being mean spirited and hateful and she appears to snarl a lot. I imagine it would get on your nerves being a judge and listening to the same old stories day after day but I think the people engaged in the law suits should be treated with respect unless their actions are outrageous. After all, most people on the judge programs are ordinary people, not attorneys, and the judges shouldn't look down on them as Judge Judy often does. Anyway, I hope you get an answer to your question.Seniors, did any of you happen to see the Judge Judy episode today?
I saw it, and I too was a bit confused. I always thought that once she ruled and left the bench, it was a done deal. But I'm glad she ruled in favor of the plaintiff. The defendant was an uppity snob, and was more than likely, a total "b***ch to be around. I think she went out of her way to make trouble for the plaintiff any way she could.
I wonder, how did she get those marks on her ? Did that AA woman kick her *** ? I sure hope so.
I watch JJ because she has had some real losers (almost like Walmart) on her program but this one was a good one.
I can't believe you told me this. I was watching, knew from the teasers that something happened at the end, but had to leave the house and didn't know what happened. I'm sure it'll be on in a rerun but I did want to know. Sounds like Judy saw a scam or at least some under handed behavior. Good for her. She has had years of experience and knows people better than they know themselves. She can see right through them.Seniors, did any of you happen to see the Judge Judy episode today?
That was a strange ending. Tort laws are different from state to state so that may have been part of the reason she reversed her decision. But the defendant may have been trying to milk the system just to get back at the dentist and maybe JJ caught her. Good episode all the same.
Most of the time she seems to rule by her feelings and not the real evidence. I think this time she realized that the person must have been telling the truth if she had filed a suit against a third person who was involved, that she must have evidence that supported her claim.
No but what are people doing looking for porn while they are working, and why are young girls assaulting each other and fighting at school and at work? I cant understand whats going on. I didnt see the episode. I don't like the trashy people on Judge Judy but I never miss Judge Marilyn Milian. She has normal people on at least.
I don't watch her anymore, I try to stay away from people with a compulsive behavior.
She may have thought that the defendant was working it.
I think she may have the beginning of some dementia, but I did not see her show. I have thought this for a long time.
I still watch Judge Judy in Scotland, but they are old ones.
Judge Judy may be abrasive however she's not only a smart NY cookie, she's been a lawyer for many, many years and has a natural instinct when it comes to sniffing out a scam.....she smelled a scam by the defendant, no doubt about it. So since she is acting as an arbitrator and not a real judge, she has some leeway as far as who 'wins' the monies paid to the people appearing before they are dispersed according to her ruling. She reversed her ruling based on the defendant suing her former employer because if by some slim chance the woman wins her pending law suit (she won't), Judge Judy did NOT want to reward her in anyway for her bad behavior....I don't blame her.
